The new Tesla Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive is the new entry point to the Model 3 range. It sits below the Premium RWD and uses the same 60kWh battery, but it goes further on a charge: 572km on the WLTP cycle.
Tesla saved money on a few comfort extras, not on the parts you’ll use every day. You still get the panoramic glass roof, matrix LED headlights, heated front seats and steering wheel, a heat pump for efficient heating and cooling, and the new 16-inch centre touchscreen. It rides on 18-inch Prismata alloy wheels.
What’s gone compared with the Premium: ventilated front seats, the rear passenger touchscreen and the premium sound system. Audio is a 7-speaker setup, ambient lighting is limited to the footwells, and the seats have textile inserts.
It also comes with Powershare vehicle-to-load (V2L), so you can run appliances, tools or camping gear off the car’s battery. You’ll need Tesla’s Outlet Adapter, which is sold separately.
Short commutes, long weekends, school runs: 572km covers them all, and charging at home costs a fraction of Dino Juice.
